On behalf of the Evanger’s family, we’d like to thank you for selecting Evanger’s for your beloved pets. We take a tremendous amount of joy and pride in manufacturing what we truly believe is the best pet food in the world. We are a family owned and operated company, and we love that what we do every day makes such a large and positive impact on the health and quality of life for your pets.
In 1935, Fred Evanger was making pure meat canned foods at his kennels because he felt that his champion Great Danes required superior nutrition in order to to prevent any dietary deficiencies. Today, we continue to innovate with the same enthusiasm as our founder.
In 2002 we developed the concept of hand packed pet food. It was initially developed specifically for our dog, Yukon; a beautiful Samoyed/Chow Chow mix with a very selective palate. Even though the meat was the same, Yukon preferred to eat our dinner steaks instead of his ground steak. So we decided to try putting a whole, unground piece of beef in a can and cook it. Of course when we served it to Yukon that evening, he loved it, and our #1 flavor, Hunk of Beef, was born. All of our Evanger’s dog foods must be approved by Yukon before we bring them to market.
Our mission is to increase the quality and enjoyment of life of our companion pets through nutrition. To this day, Evanger’s remains just as committed to quality and innovation as ever, and continues to develop new products that will fit within its philosophy. We have proudly been independently owned for over 75 years, and because of this, continue to sell our products exclusively through independent neighborhood pet shops where quality and customer service are of the utmost importance.

OUR HISTORY:
Since 1935, Evanger's Dog & Cat Food Company, Inc. has been the finest natural pet food company in the United States. Our founder, Fred Evanger, bred, exhibited, and championed his Great Danes in international kennel clubs. He was a fervent believer that his dogs' health and the health of their offspring were dependent on wholesome, nutritious food, and strongly advocated that this was the key to his success in the show ring. Mr. Evanger built a canning factory at his kennels so that he could make a quality pet food, free of harmful additives or preservatives;, that was superior enough for his champions. Over 76 years later, we know that Fred Evanger was a man ahead of his time.
What the Professionals Have Known for 75 Years!
There is no question that Fred Evanger accomplished his objective back in 1935. Evanger's Dog & Cat Food Co. grew into a regional, then national, success story as word of the quality ingredients and manufacturing processes spread to breeders of show and sports dogs, veterinarians, boarding kennels, and feed stores. Seventy-six years later, Evanger's expanded pet food line is manufactured on the original site, following the same tradition of uncompromising quality in delicious meals for dogs and cats. Evanger's remains a family-owned and operated company and continues to be as innovative today as Mr. Evanger was when he first started making pet food. In 2003, Evanger's was the first pet food company to create a food that was packed by hand instead of machine by putting whole pieces of fresh meat and vegetables into the cans. Manufacturing Process
Evanger's cans are packed with natural, raw ingredients in their own natural juices. The ingredients are then cooked entirely inside the sealed can to lock in the nutrients and flavor of each variety.
