Disclaimer: Fat mans jerky sent me an variety pack of their beef jerky for free in return for my honest review.
Now my household is a HUGE fan of Beef Jerky, so needless to say I was very excited to when I received my samples of Fatman's Beef Jerky to try. But before I get into the review, let me give you some information on their company and products.
"Since May of 2006, we have been a USDA inspected jerky plant located in New Mexico, where people have a long tradition of appreciating good, home-style jerky. Although this has been the key to our success, we continue to meet the challenge of educating consumers that most commercially produced jerky in America tastes nothing like jerky is meant to be!
Our jerky is made from inside rounds of American, USDA Inspected beef. We prepare our product in 14 varieties of marinade. In our line of chili jerky (Green Chile, Red Chile and Jalapeno Lime) we use fresh, locally grown green chilies, jalapenos, and red chilies, and these seem to be our best sellers. We also have created a mild smoke-style jerky (Cowboy). Many people still request Teriyaki, and our recipe uses orange juice in the marinade, with surprising results. We also have Lemon Pepper with a notable citrus flavor. Our Original flavor only uses soy and Worchestshire sauce and red wine vinegar, and the Salt & Pepper is not marinaded but top-dressed. Our newest flavors Smoky Chipolte, Cajun and Habenero (for the spice lovers); Barbeque; and Sweet and Spicy, a sugar cured jerky that we can't keep in stock!!
As we are a USDA inspected Plant, many standards must be met to insure that our product is safe and wholesome. Our state-of-the-art smokehouses record the internal temperature of the meat, making sure that critical control temperatures are reached prior to the drying cycle. Once the jerky is dried, water activity tests are performed to insure that our product will be shelf-stable for 6 months to a year. (This is necessary, as we do not add any MSG or nitrates to our product.)
Our product is packaged and sealed in a plastic bag which can be closed with a zip-locking option once opened. We use a variety of sizes, but we found that the 2oz seem to sell best. Our labels are created in our facility and include the ingredients, weight and bar codes. Each flavor of jerky is assigned its own color label."
And now for my review of the jerky. OMG is all that I can say!!! If you are a Beef Jerky Connoisseur, or like my family just a huge fan, you will not be disappointed!!! I received a variety pack with all 14 flavors
And as soon as we got it, I could not wait to open it up and start trying it! They came in small bags that are perfect to throw in a lunch box or your purse to take with you on the go.
No matter what flavor we tried, and we all of them, we loved them. The flavor was perfect, and it left a wonderful aftertaste in my mouth that made me go get some more! The texture was perfect, not too tough and not too soft, JUST RIGHT!!! My only complaint was that there was not enough in each bag!!! I wanted more!!!!
I also love the fact that they also offer a fundraising program. Are you tired of selling chocolate, cookie dough or tshirts for your kids class or team? Why not suggest that the next time they need to make some extra money to give Fatman's Beef Jerky a try? There is no upfront costs, and they have 14 varieties of beef jerky and an additional 7 flavors of 100% American Beef Sticks also!!! One elementary school in the Roswell Independent School District was able to earn upwards of $4,000 selling Fatman's Beef Jerky!!!! If you are interested you can contact them at 575-752-2333 or check out their website.
So, do I have you watering at the mouth to try some for yourself?
